Zero Weedicide Policy
We at Nature’s Pick Organic follows strictly “Zero Weedicide Policy”. Accordingly, to FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization – United Nations) Weeds cause early 50-60% menace or crop losses in developing world like Asia and Africa.
To control this many small-time farmers in Asia and Africa rely on traditional hand weeding process and use of highly toxic chemicals Glyphosate to prevent weeds.
Based on the data collected in Nature’s Pick Organic farm alone from 2017 to Feb 2020 we concluded that we spend 50% of Farm expenditure only on control weeds using Traditional Solarization techniques like ploughing the land, hand weeding etc , Ploughing between row to row is very easy and mechanization can be utilized however the space between plants often have weeds menace , and usage of Hand weeding with Daily Labor is mandatory since no “ Chemical Weedicide “ is used.
Result: Additional expenditure on Farm Maintenance.
India is all about Small and Marginal farmers and can’t not bear the cost of Manual weeding nor crop losses and hence tend to spray toxic weedicides and results on human health is too dangerous.
To prevent weeds Nature’s Pick Organic use state of Art mulching material which is specifically design to with stand
- Excessive summer temperatures of Humid Coastal south India.
- Rodent resistant.
- Pest -Repellent (white color on the top will reflect Pest)
- High Tensile stress.
- Soil Microbes.
- Soil Nutrients.
- Controlled UV Protection.
- Micro Climate
Synpack a Bengaluru based film manufacture company has specifically designed Mulching sheet after lot discussions and field trials for Nature’s Pick Organic.
